This book is an extension of my dissertation "The realization of the hypostatic principle in the theology of Elder Sophronius", which was submitted to the Department of Theology of the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1998. Since then I have had the desire to proceed to a comprehensive presentation of the teaching of Elder Sophronius. Perhaps I have not been able to fully realize this goal even now, but I have tried to cover in general terms the most basic themes of his theology.

For any shortcomings or omissions in this book, I am responsible. For what, if any, good things are contained, the praise belongs to my blessed Elder, the greatest benefactor of my life. But to the Lord Jesus Christ, who has revealed to us the type and pattern, the depth and breadth, the style and perfection of the person of God, glory to Him for ever and ever.
