Lemon verbena Athonian

Lemon verbena contains the active substances varennalin, varverine, essential oil, mucilage and a strange tannin that does not resemble ordinary tannins and has not yet been researched. These substances give them diuretic-relaxing, antimicrobial, astringent, emollient and relaxing, antispasmodic properties. It can be used in many ways as an infusion, decoction or oil, added to body creams and even in cooking. Its oral use is best avoided by people with hypotension because its diuretic action lowers blood pressure, as well as by women during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
