Sage Monastery Simonos Petras
This herb has a strong aroma and it is cultivated for its pharmaceutical attributes, but also for beverages and as a spice. The leaves have antiseptic, expectorant and spasmolytic actions. The plant is beneficial for the stomach and it is heart stimulant.It is also used against neuralgias. Sage is used as a curative beverage internally against perspiration, and it is ideal to treat the mouth cavity in case of wounds, mouth ulcers, pharyngitis and gingivitis. It reduces gases, it is diuretic and helps with menstrual cramps. It is also haemostatic and acts as a local anesthetic for the skin. It also has antibacterial, antimycotic, anti-epileptic and hypoglycemic action. It is collected and packaged at the Holy Cell of Dontas at the Monastery of Simonos Petras.
