Saint Clement came from Rome and was the son of an aristocratic family. His parents provided him with a great education. When he met the Apostle Peter, he was influenced by his speech, as a result of which he developed into a warm preacher of the Holy Gospel and a prolific writer.

Saint Clement ascended the episcopal throne of Rome in the year 92 AD. He was distinguished for his pastoral work and his Christian zeal. During the period of persecution, he was arrested by the emperor Dometian and exiled. He died a martyr when an anchor was tied around his neck and he was thrown into the sea.

His memory is honored by the Orthodox Christian Church on November 24 of each year.
