The leaves have antiseptic, expectorant and antispasmodic properties.The plant has stomachic, tonic and cardiotonic properties and is also used against neuralgia. Sage is used in therapeutics in the form of a decoction internally as an anthelmintic, it is also ideal for treating the mouth in case of injuries, aphrodisiacs, pharyngitis and against gingivitis. It reduces intestinal gas, is a diuretic and emmenagogue. It is also a haemostatic, and a local anaesthetic for the skin. It also has antibiotic, antifungal, antispasmodic and hypoglycemic action.
