Saint Artemius the Great Martyr of Christianity is celebrated by the Orthodox Christian Church on October 20 every year. He was born in Antioch and was honored by Constantine the Great with high positions. Artemius was a persecutor of paganism and accused Emperor Julian the Transgressor of seeking its restoration. Julian ordered the arrest of Artemius, who was mercilessly tortured and beheaded. Saint Artemios is the patron saint of Mykonos and the protector of the Greek Police.

Apolytikion of Great Martyr Artemius

Fourth Tone

Thy Martyr, O Lord, in his courageous contest for Thee received the prize of the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since he possessed Thy strength, he cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by his prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
