The Company

"Athonian" is one of the oldest companies that sell genuine handiwork and products from Mount Athos and it is based in Daphne, Mount Athos.

The history of our company begins in 1990, when our father Vasilios Kartsiotis, opened the shop at Daphne with a view to promote and sell the daily production and creations of the Athonian monks.

The first offered for sale products which are available in the shop are a small range of Athonian handiwork from woolen prayer ropes, lithographs and incenses, creations of monks from the Holy Cells and Holy Sketes of Athos.

With the passage of time and with the blessing of the fathers and the monasteries, more products, handiwork and handcrafted items are added to the shop such as hand-painted icons, woodwork, copies of sacred relics and icons of the monasteries, as well as books from Athonian writers.

Nowadays, with the effort and the prayer of the monks, traditional productions of specific products have revived such as wine, herbs, soaps, wax creams, things that everyone will want to acquire, and thus we have decided to combine the traditional with the new, the long lasting Athonian craftsmanship with the possibilities offered by new technologies.

Therefore, we have created the website www.athonian.gr , which apart from the wealth of information for the eternal beacon of orthodoxy, it also provides the possibility to every visitor from whichever location to purchase, quickly and cheaply, genuine Athonian products - actual blessings of the Garden of Virgin Mary.

The website "Athonian" is essentially the portal of Mount Athos to the rest of the world by offering with respect the daily exertion of the monks in every corner of the world.
