Saint Salome was a relative of the Virgin Mary, wife of Zebedee and mother of the Apostles James and John. She attended the Crucifixion of Christ and was one of the women who anointed His body with myrrh. After the founding of the first Christian Church in Jerusalem, Salome was distinguished for her Christian zeal and almsgiving to her fellow human beings. She died in peace.
The Orthodox Christian Church commemorates her on August 3 of each year.
