Saint Aglaia lived in the 3rd century AD. and came from a wealthy family of Roman nobles. She was distinguished for almsgiving and for the help to her fellow human beings. Aglaia was in a relationship with a young man named Boniface, whom she had appointed as her estate manager. Boniface and Aglaia were distinguished for their charity and honesty. The couple fell into the sin and turned away from God.

The two youngs confessed their sins and returned to the road of virtue and rebirth. Boniface, as a Christian, was severely tortured and martyred for his faith in Tarsus of Cilicia. Saint Aglaia sold all her property and dedicated herself to God and to the suffering fellow human being. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates her memory on December 19 of each year.
