Saint Hermione lived in Ephesus, during the Roman period, when Trajan was emperor. She was one of the four daughters of the Deacon and Apostle Philip. The Saint was distinguished for her prophetic gift, her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for her fellow man. Because she possessed the art of medicine, she healed the faithful. When Trajan called her, Hermione told him that she would lose the imperial throne from his son-in-law, Andrian. Immediately the emperor ordered her to be tortured and killed. However, she was saved, thanks to her unwavering faith, and lived peacefully, until she died in the year 117 AD.
Her memory is honored by the Orthodox Church on September 4 of each year.
