Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Eudokia the Martyr in pine wood with carved decoration.

Saint Eudokia was born in Heliopolis of Lebanon and came from Samaria. She was very beautiful and rich as a prostitute, attracting rich lovers. When she met the monk Germanus, she repented and was baptized a Christian by Bishop Theodotus. From that moment she left her liberated life and followed an ascetic life, going to a monastery.

Saint Eudokia was accused by her former lovers who betrayed her as a Christian to the ruler Vincent. Eventually, Vincent ordered her beheading and Eudokia was martyred. Fragment of the relic of the Saint is found in the Monastery of Simonos Petras of Mount Athos. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates her memory on March 1 of each year.

Apolytikion of Saint Eudokia the Martyr

Plagal of the Fourth Tone

The image of God, was faithfully preserved in you, O Mother. For you took up the Cross and followed Christ. By Your actions you taught us to look beyond the flesh for it passes, rather to be concerned about the soul which is immortal. Wherefore, O Holy Eudokia, your soul rejoices with the angels.
