Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Lydia of Philippi in pine wood with carved decoration.

Saint Lydia came from Thyateira in Asia Minor and lived in Philippi, Macedonia, where she practiced the profession of the merchant. When the Apostle Paul was in Troas, he saw a vision inviting him to go to Macedonia to teach the Christian faith. Outside the city of Philippi and near the banks of the river Zygaktos, the Apostle Paul preached the word of Christ to a large number of women for the first time in Europe. Among the gathered women was Lydia, who immediately accepted the Christian faith, was baptized and became the first member of the Church of Greece.

Lydia was the first European Christian who received the Holy Spirit. In Philippi of Kavala but also in Asprovalta there are Temples dedicated to her. The Orthodox Christian Church commemorates her on May 20 of each year.
