Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Myrope the Martyr in pine wood with carved decoration.

Saint Myrope was born in Ephesus in the middle of the 3rd century AD. Her mother came from Chios and took the name Myrope because she received every day the myrrh that gushed from the tomb of Saint Hermione. When the great persecution of Christians by Emperor Decius had begun, she moved to Chios with her mother. There she did great charity work and studied the Holy Scripture.

The persecution later spread to Chios and at that time Saint Isidore was martyred. The order of the local lord was not to bury the relic of the Saint. However, Myrope managed to steal it and buried it with great honor and reverence. For this act she was punished with severe torture and surrendered her spirit to God. Fragment of the Holy Relic of the Saint is located in the Chapel of Saint Xeni the Russian in Mandra of Attica. Her memory is celebrated by Orthodox Christian Church on December 2 of each year.
