Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Polyxene the Righteous in pine wood with carved decoration.

Saint Polyxeni was originally from Spain and lived during the period when Claudius I was emperor of Rome. The Saint was abducted by a man who wanted to corrupt her but she managed to escape with the help of God. He was taught the Christian faith by listening to the sermons of the Apostles Peter and Philip.

Polyxeni, after receiving the holy baptism from the Apostle Andrew, returned to her hometown and worked diligently for the Christian faith. He died in peace at an old age. Saint Polyxene and her sister Saint Xanthippi are honored by the Orthodox Christian Church on September 23 of each year.
