Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Floros the Martyr in pine wood with carved decoration.

Saint Floros came from Constantinople and practiced the profession of stonemason together with his twin brother Lauros. The brothers were taught Christianity and the art of stonemasonry by Saint Patroclus and Saint Maximus who testified in the name of Christ. In the city of Ulpiana, where he worked, there was a priest named Merentius. Floros and Lavros miraculously healed the priest's son who was suffering from blindness.

As soon as the prefect Licinius was informed of this fact, he arrested the brothers and tortured them in a horrible way. The Saints martyred in a well and surrendered their souls to God. Their remains were transported to Istanbul. There is a church of the same name in the village of Agios Floros in Messinia. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates their memory on August 18 of each year.

Apolytikion of Saint Floros the Martyr

Fourth Tone

Thy Martyrs, O Lord, in their courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since they possessed Thy strength, they cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by their prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
