Saint Miltiades or Melchiades was pope of Rome during the period from 311 AD. until his death on January 10, 314 AD. He was of African descent and is known as Melchiad the African. It was convened with him in 313 AD. Synod at the Lateran of Rome which condemned Donatus. Saint Miltiades died as a martyr of the Lord during the reign of Emperor Maximinus and was buried on Appia Street, near the necropolis of Saint Callistus.
The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates his memory on April 10 of each year.
