The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary is a feast of the Mother of God in remembrance of the joyful news that She is going to born the Son of God. According to the evangelist Luke, the Archangel Gabriel was sent to the Virgin Mary, who was engaged to Joseph, and greeted her with the following words: "Rejoice, thou Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women".

The Annunciation of the Theotokos is celebrated by the Orthodox Christian Church on March 25 of each year.

Today marks the crowning of our salvation and the revelation of the mystery before all ages. For the Son of God becomes the son of the Virgin, and Gabriel proclaims the grace. Wherefore, we also cry out with him, "Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you."
