The nun Gavriilia Papagianni (Aurelia) was born on October 2, 1897 AD in Constantinople.

The death of her mother in 1954 AD played a catalytic role in her later spiritual life. After taking a vow of poverty, she gave up all her possessions and decided to leave for India. There, for five long years, she stood by the side of the lepers and did her utmost for their relief.

She helped a multitude of people and was the cause of many people being baptized Orthodox. She never told others about Christ unless they asked her to. During these years she made important acquaintances such as Mother Teresa, Sivananda, Baba Amte.

She was invited to various countries to speak about Orthodox Christianity. After India she was in the Himalayas for a year on a meager diet, alone with only God, in hours of endless prayer.

Next came Africa, Athens, where she stayed in the house of angels as her spiritual children called it, where every day she received suffering people and helped them.

She celebrates her feast day on March 28 of each year.
