Saint Ypomoni, known as Helen Dragash, came from a royal family and was the wife of the Byzantine emperor Manuel II Palaiologos.

With great patience and together with her husband she tried to keep the empire upright, which was facing many dangers and was on the verge of collapse. He had eight children, 6 boys and 2 girls. Among the boys stood out Constantine XI Palaiologos, the legendary "Marbled King" and the last king of the Byzantine Empire.

After the death of her husband, Helen went to the Monastery of Saint Martha, where she became a nun named Patience. With the assistance of Helen, it was founded in Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos of Petra, where the holy relic of Saint Patapios the miracle worker was kept, a women's nursing home called "The hope of the desperate". The Saint was distinguished for her virtue, wisdom, patience, perseverance and trust in God throughout her life. He had a special love for monasteries, from where he drew mental strength. The Church honors her memory on March 13 of each year.

Apolytikion of Saint Ypomoni the Righteous

Plagal of the 1st Tone

The noble queen let us hymn, Ypomoni the Righteous, the pious dove who flew from the world's disarray towards the dwlling place of heaven, in unending love, asceticism and humility, crying, shatter, by your prayers, the shackles of the lawless, O queen.
