Saint Pelagia, known as Lucia Negreponti, was born in 1752 AD. in the village of Kampos of Tinos and was the daughter of the priest Nikiforos Negrepontis. From a very young age, Lucia showed her desire to be devoted to God. At the age of 15 she entered the Monastery of Kechrovouni as a probationer and later became a nun named Pelagia. She was distinguished for the purity of her soul and the sanctity of her life. As a result, the Virgin Mary revealed to her the place where Her image was buried. The miraculous icon of the Virgin of Tinos was finally found on January 30, 1823 AD. The famous church was built there and became a center of pan-Orthodox worship.

The Saint slept in peace and was buried in the Church of Taxiarches on April 28, 1834 AD. The Holy Relics of the Saint are located in the Holy Monastery of Kechrovouni in Tinos. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates her memory on July 23 of each year.
