Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Theodosia the Virgin Martyr in pine wood with carved decoration.
Saint Theodosia came from Tyre of Phoenicia and was distinguished for her pure soul and warmth of faith. At the age of 18 she was led to the local ruler Urban who flattered her in order to deny Christ. The virgin Theodosia remained steadfast in her beliefs, a fact that angered Urban. The Saint suffered horrible tortures and was thrown into the sea where she surrendered her soul to the Lord.
The Orthodox Christian Church commemorates her on May 29 of each year.
Apolytikion of Saint Theodosia the Virgin Martyr
Fourth Tone
O Lord Jesus, unto Thee Thy lamb doth cry with a great voice: O my Bridegroom, Thee I love; and seeking Thee, I now contest, and with Thy baptism am crucified and buried. I suffer for Thy sake, that I may reign with Thee; for Thy sake I die, that I may live in Thee: accept me offered out of longing to Thee as a spotless sacrifice. Lord, save our souls through her intercessions, since Thou art great in mercy.
